Pikkuna weather screens last for many years if you look after them carefully.
For the first 1–2 weeks after installation, do not roll up the Pikkuna weather screen. The material needs time to straighten out and stretch naturally under its own weight. This helps prevent permanent creases or uneven tension and ensures a smooth appearance in the long run.
Make sure the Pikkuna weather screen is completely dry before rolling it up. Rolling it when damp may cause mildew, clouding, or damage to the film surface. Avoid rolling it up in early mornings or after rain, when condensation might still be present.
If the Pikkuna weather screen is kept rolled up for a long time, creases may appear. We recommend unrolling it at least once every two weeks to let the material relax and to check for any buildup of dust or debris that may have formed during storage.
Pikkuna is made from durable PVC, but it can still be damaged by fire, sparks, hot surfaces, or sharp tools. Do not use grills or open flames nearby, and take care not to scratch the surface with ladders, nails, or other equipment during maintenance.
Use clean water or soapy water with a soft cloth or sponge to wash your Pikkuna screen. A pressure washer can also be used from at least 1.5 meters away. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents like solvents, alcohol, or windshield washer fluid — they can cloud or weaken the material.
In high winds over 12 m/s, always make sure your Pikkuna screen is either fully fastened to the frame or completely rolled up and strapped. Never leave it half-open in strong gusts, as this may damage the mounting points or tear the material.
Before the outside temperature drops below +5°C, unroll and secure the Pikkuna screen in its installed position. In freezing weather, the PVC becomes stiff and brittle — rolling it up or adjusting it may cause cracks or seam failure.
